I found another great deal at Kroger that I wanted to share!  Clear Hair and Scalp Shampoo is Chad’s favorite because they have a men’s line and it smells great!  Normally these bottles are $5.99 each so when I snagged them for $.99 each I was sooo excited.  Here’s how you can also snag this deal.

You will pay $6.98, but will receive a coupon for $5.00 off of your next purchase!  That’s like getting 2 bottles for only $1.98 or $.99 each! WOW!

There is a limit of 1 per transaction so if you would like to do this deal more than once then be sure you have separate transactions.  The $5.00 coupons will roll meaning that you can pay $6.98 for your first transaction and receive your $5.00 coupon and then turn around and purchase 2 more bottles (using 2 more coupons) and also use your $5.00 coupon and pay only $1.98 PLUS receive another $5.00 coupon.

*NOTE* I have purchased this deal 2 times now at the Harrodsburg, KY Kroger and the $5.00 coupon does not print (despite the fact that the shelves are labeled to indicate that you will receive a coupon).  Both times that I have purchased this deal I have alerted the service desk to the problem and they have issued me a refund for $5.00 cash.  If you do not get your coupon be sure to tell the customer service cashier!

Elfidee Adventures – Christmas Countdown

Elf2

Elfidee’s Adventures Continue this Year!

Caeden and Ryker have been very excited about Christmas and each day they ask “How many more days until Christmas?”  I think Elfidee knew how excited they are so he created them a Christmas Countdown to help them visually see how close we are to this magical holiday. Each morning they can remove one of the links from the chain and count them so that they know exactly how close we are to Christmas!

I will try to share this little tradition with you readers as each day goes by!

Never heard of the Elf on the shelf?
….read more about it here:

Year after year, children and adults alike are baffled by the mystery of how Santa really knows who’s been naughty or nice. After much urging by the elves and Mrs. Claus, Santa has allowed his biggest secret to be revealed in The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition. At the start of each Christmas season, the elf appears to serve as Santa’s eyes and ears, traveling back to the North Pole each and every night to make a detailed report of the day’s activities. This keepsake gift set includes a light skin, blue eyed girl North Pole pixie scout elf and a hardbound watercolor picture book. Children can register their elf online to receive an official adoption certificate and a special letter from Santa.

Before the family awakes each morning, their special scout elf will fly back to their home from the North Pole. However, since these elves like to play games, don’t expect to find them in the same spot!  While some like to hide in the freezer (probably because it reminds them of the North Pole) and others prefer to sit on the fireplace mantle or hang from the chandelier, these elves love to play hide-and-seek with their families.

Elfidee’s Adventures Continue this Year!
Today he decided to bring a little reminder to Ryker and Caeden to make sure they are making good decisions.  He left coal and gold coins with a note asking them if they are being naughty or nice!  These candies can be found at the Dollar Tree and the boys enjoyed this special treat after Elfidee had moved on the next day :)

All Aboard!! Christmas Express is an AWESOME Holiday Tradition that will Create Lasting Memories!

Christmas Express2

In our household we are always looking for fun and creative ways to make memories with our children.  I especially love ideas that are quick and FREE!  To get started we waited until close to bedtime and started our nightly routine.  Daddy took the boys upstairs for a bath and to start the bedtime rituals  (pajamas that were laid out in our bedroom, brushing teeth, combing hair, etc) while mommy worked downstairs to prepare the fun!  The first step was to create a ticket that would allow the boys to board the “Christmas Express.”

Christmas Express

If you have Microsoft Word on your computer then you can create a ticket very quickly using their template.  Follow these instructions:

1. Click on “New” to create a new document (under the file tab). This will load a menu for Templates.

2. In the Search box type in “Tickets” and you will find several different examples from Microsoft Office Online.

3. Choose the ticket you wish to create and click “Download.”  This will create your ticket and you can change the details to fit your own Christmas Express!

For our tickets I cut down a piece of red construction paper to fit the printer and in a few minutes I had a red ticket that I taped to a large piece of green paper in order to create a Christmas looking ticket.

While the boys were in the bathroom I placed a ticket with their name on it on top of their pillow.  I then ran downstairs to finish up the preparations.  The next step was to pop some popcorn and place it into containers.  We have special popcorn boxes, but you could use bowls, bags, or whatever you have on hand.  I placed these containers in the car and threw 2 of the boys favorite blankets in the dryer to get them nice and warm.

The next step was to make cups of hot chocolate.  I used travel mugs for Caeden (our 6 year old) and myself and my husband.  For Ryker (our 1 year 0ld) I used a Santa cup with a sippy straw.  Of course I made Ryker’s cocoa first and didn’t warm the milk to boiling so that it wouldn’t be so hot.  I dashed to the car and placed the cups of cocoa in the cup holders and turned the music on in the car so it would blare out Christmas music!  I opened all of the doors to the car and grabbed the blankets and placed them on the boy’s car seats.

Christmas Express4

It was about this time that the boys were heading to bed and found their tickets!  Daddy explained that they should grab their slippers and head to the car.  They were both so excited for this adventure and were surprised to see the car ready with snacks, drinks, and warm blankets.  Caeden was especially precious as he went on and on about how it was bedtime and he couldn’t believe we were leaving the house!  The smile on their faces and the excitement is something I will never forget.  I punched their ticket with a hole punch and they boarded the Christmas Express and off we went!

Christmas Express3

The Christmas Express took us all around our hometown of Harrodsburg where we went to various neighborhoods and checked out the Christmas lights.  The boys had a blast singing along to the Christmas music, eating their snack, and pointing out lights to one another.  I can honestly say that this was more fun for them than any of the Christmas trips we have made in the past and it was so simple!  I can promise you that it will now be a yearly event in our home and we made memories that will last these boys a lifetime…and that’s what Christmas is all about :)

Be sure to pin this idea to Pinterest so that you can create your very own Christmas Express for your family!
